Learn the decks
One to one on the studio’s decks and Traktor, taught by Neil Combstock, who played London and Tokyo as one half of Zero dB on Ninja Tune. Beatmatching to a finished set.
Rocking Horse has decks and Traktor in the building, and Neil has taught DJing before, at the old studio, before the place even had its own decks. Lessons are one to one, on the gear, at your pace.
Start from nothing or bring what you already do. Beatmatching by ear, phrasing and mixing, EQ and the mixer, building a set, reading a room, and the Traktor side: library, cue points, effects, recording your mix. Bring your own music or work from the studio’s.
If you want to record your set properly afterwards, the control room is next door.
The teacher
Neil Combstock was one half of Zero dB on Ninja Tune: Herbal in London, New Year’s Eve at Yebisu Garden Hall in Tokyo. He knows what a dancefloor does when a mix lands and when it does not.
